Sensex falls 73 points, Nifty ends below 10,800, over global trade tensions

The 30-share BSE Sensex ended 73.88 points lower at 35,548.26 on Monday while the Nifty 50 closed 17.85 points down at 10,799.85, on global trade tensions. It was the first day of trade for the reconstituted Sensex, where Vedanta has replaced Dr Reddy’s Lab.

Benchmark indices declined following weak cues from global equity markets. Share markets in Europe and Asia fell as global trade war fears erupted again after US President Donald Trump escalated trade tensions by announcing tariffs on additional Chinese imports, prompting Beijing to immediately respond in kind.
