Respect the ban on ‘Jallikattu’ by SC: Maneka

Chennai, Aug 16 (PTI) Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, whohas always opposed allowing the popular bull-taming sport’Jallikattu’, today said people should respect the ban on thesport by the Supreme Court. "Most of them are against the sport (Jallikattu). Thequestion is, it is not for me to say, it is not for BJP tosay, it is not for anybody to say. The Supreme Court has ruledand we must, in this country, listen to the apex court," shetold reporters on the sidelines of an event here. Though the Centre in January this year lifted the ban onJallikattu, the apex court has stayed the notification. The Union Women and Child Development Minister has alwaysadvocated a ban on the sport. Gandhi-led People For Animals(PFA) had strongly condemned the lifting of ban on Jallikattu,saying it was against the ideology of the BJP-led governmentwhich believes in saving cows. PTI VIJ VSSRYMVV
