Indian abducted in Libya rescued successfully, thanks to EAM Sushma Swaraj

An Indian IT engineer, Rigi Joseph, abducted in Libya, since March, has now been released, with the efforts of the Indian Embassy functioning in the North African country.

Regi, a native of Koziphode, in Kerala, had been working with an infrastructure-based firm, Al Diwan Company, in the Libyan capital, Tripoli. He was part of a key project concerning the creation of a national citizen database, before being abducted by gunmen, along with three others.

Backed up by the persistent urging of Sushma Swaraj, our very own Minister of External Affairs and the efforts made by the Indian Embassy in Libya, Joseph was brought back to safety.

Swaraj later took it to twitter to confirm the news, crediting the Embassy for the success of the operation:
