Sikh man shot in Kent, attacker shouts ‘Go back to your country’

A Sikh man was shot in his driveway in Kent in Washington district by a masked man who shouted “go back to your own country” after two more Indians were shot dead in the last few days, in which one was an Engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla was shot dead at a bar in Kansas by a US navy veteran who shouted at him to “get out of my country”, another was Indian-origin businessman who was shot dead outside his US home in South Carolina.

The shooting took place around 8:00 PM, according to local police, when the 39-year-old who was working on his car in the driveway had an argument with him following which he shot him in the arm and told him to return to his country. “We are treating this as a very serious incident,” Kent police Chief Ken Thomas told Seattle Times on Saturday.Trump denounced the Kansas shooting and all instances of hate crimes in his maiden speech to the joint session of Congress, but, as the Sikh Coalition’s Singh said, American leaders need to “make hate crime prevention a top priority”.
