Khattar, party MLAs ride bicycles to Assembly

Chandigarh, Aug 31 (PTI) Haryana Chief MinisterManohar Lal Khattar along with his cabinet ministers and partyMLAs today cycled to the Legislative Assembly here in a bid toencourage people to opt for eco-friendly transportation. 62-year-old Khattar Khattar and many others rode bicyclesto cover the short distance of over one km from the chiefminister’s residence to the Assembly, some of the women MLAstravelled by e-rickshaws. The chief minister later told reporters that they wantedto give a message to people to make more use ofenvironment-friendly mode of transports. He said though their gesture was "symbolic", but theywant a message should go out that using bicycles is notonly good for health, but also environment-friendly. Notably, on the opening day of the monsoon session ofHaryana Assembly on Friday, BJP MLA Pawan Kumar Saini hadpedalled around 110 km from his constituency in Kurukshetradistrict to reach the Assembly in Chandigarh. 45-year-old Saini was also among the group of MLAs whocyled to the Assembly today.
