Special 26 Inspired Gang Posing As ED Official Busted

Date:

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, Delhi Police’s Crime Branch Unit busted a gang on Thursday that was using fake summons from the Enforcement Directorate to blackmail businessmen.

The gang was inspired by the Bollywood movie ‘Special 26’ in which a gang posed as fake CBI officers conducted raids at different locations.

Delhi Police arrested nine people including the main accused in connection with the case. The police have further recovered 12 mobile phones and a car used in the crime.

Talking about the details of the case, Rohit Meena, DCP Crime said that “On 15th November we got the information that Hardev Singh (President of Nippon India Paints) has received fake summons and they posed as ED to extort these people.”

He further added that the Crime Branch unit raided the Ashoka Hotel and nabbed Akhilesh Mishra and another person from the premises. They further used a vehicle of the “Ministry of New and Renewable Energy” that was seized by the police.

Ravindra Yadav, Special CP Crime added that “they were inspired from films like Special 26,”. He further added that the whole conspiracy was planned and hatched meticulously and every role was precisely defined and enacted.
