Sensing defeat Rane ready to quit Congress

Date:

Mumbai: Maharashtra Industries Minister Narayan Rane is planning to resign from congress, an announcement is likely to be made in the next two days.

In a two-page letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Rane has warned that the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance will come to power in the coming assembly elections, if Chief Minister Chavan is not immediately sacked.

Rane said he recently met Sonia Gandhi, her political adviser Ahmed Patel and AICC general secretary Mohan Prakash with his complaints. “I submitted to them a blueprint for the assembly polls, but it was seemingly ignored,” Rane said showing dissatisfaction towards congress party.

Rane served as chief minister for nine months in 1999 when the Shiv Sena – BJP combine was in power in the state.
