Falla upsets Kohlschreiber to reach Halle Open final

Colombian world number 69 Alejandro Falla upset Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber 5-7, 7-6 (7/5), 6-4 to reach the final of the Halle Open on Saturday.

The 30-year-old will now meet Swiss seven-time Halle champion Roger Federer or Japanese world number 12 Kei Nishikori, who meet later in the second semi-final.

Kohlschreiber, ranked world 27 and the 2011 champion, was feeling the effects of his quarter-final clash on Friday when he was taken to three sets by compatriot Dustin Brown before prevailing 18-16 in the third set tie-break.
