Bibury, Gloucestershire, England

Often referred as the most beautiful village in England, Bibury is famous for its 17th century sandstone cottages. The old buildings, the River Coln and the nature makes it look like a classic English village you read about in literature.

By train or bus. Bibury is only 1.45 h drive from London.

 

Colmar, Alsace Region, France

Situated in the north-eastern France, Colmar is stunningly beautiful. Its well preserved old town and the diversity of architectural styles make the city one of the most popular destinations in France. The tourists have a very romantic weekend in this historic town.

Spello, Umbria, Italy

A Medieval town was built on the Roman foundations. The hikers love to get lost in the town’s streets web. In summer its streets get decorated with hundreds of flowers and justly is called one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Catch a train from Rome, Florence or Perugia. Get a taxi from Perugia’s airport, which is 30 km (18 mi) away.

 

Monschau, Eifel, Germany

A small resort town dates back to the 12th century. French and Belgians tried to annex it, however, it remained in Germany’s territory. Patients who need a healthy climate come to Monschau. The historic architecture and the beautiful castle also attract the tourists.

Yvoire, Rhône-Alpes, France

The Medieval town situated on the shores of Lake Geneva has it all: historic architecture, beautiful nature and is accessible. Its streets are decorated with flowers during summer and it is fun to simply wander around the town.

Wengen, Canton of Bern, Switzerland

The hiking and skiing village is a nice place to visit at any time of the year. Switzerland is famous for its small villages, surrounded with amazing nature. In Wengen the tourist agencies will offer various activities, which will let you explore the Jungfrau-Aletsch site protected by UNESCO.

There are many options. Take a bus, train or drive by car from the airports at Bern, Zurich, Basel or Geneva.

 

Gásadalur, Vagar Island, Faroe Islands

Faroe Islands have a lot of small villages spread across the unspoiled nature, which is so enigmatic. The village of Gásadalur is situated on the edge of a steep cliff with a waterfall. From the other side the mountains of Vagar surround the village.

Go there by boat or fly to Vagar.

 

Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, Garenin, Scotland

A really really small village, consisting of nine restored traditional cottages. The tourists are offered a self-catering accommodation. The village provides the most authentic experience, while exploring the unspoiled nature of Isle of Lewis.

Travel by car or bus in the Isle of Lewis.
