6 years after 26/11 Chabad House reopens

Date:

Mumbai: Six years since the gruesome 26/11 terror attack on the Chabad House in Mumbai, the Jewish learning centre reopened on Tuesday. The fully renovated six-storeyed Nariman House in South Mumbai’s Colaba area saw a special gathering of 25 Rabbis representing the Jewish community from all over Asia.

The six-storey Chabad House will have a Jewish Museum. “It’s a good thing that Nariman House will reopen. We are happy about it,” said a Mumbai resident.

“The police should be more alert now. People who lost their family members in the attack endured a lot,” another resident said.

During the attacks in 2008, six occupants of the Nariman House including Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife were killed. The couple’s son, 2-year-old Moshe, was saved by his Indian nanny.
