School warden and assistant face arrest in ragging case

Date:

Gwalior: The three accused students have been expelled and two staffers debarred by the Scindia School who said they have zero tolerance on ragging. This comes after Gwalior Sub Divisional Magistrate’s report confirmed ragging in the alleged suicide case of the 14-year-old son of the Bihar minister in Scindia School.

Police have registered a case against the three seniors and two assistant house masters. The FIRs were registered against the minor boys, resident tutor, Arpan Soni and House master Parampreet Grewal, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammad Yusuf Qureshi said.

The report further states that the management had failed to take any step despite the Class IX student, Adarsh Kumar Singh, complaining to them about the ragging that he had been facing for ten days before the incident. CBSE is also conducting an inquiry into the incident.

Gwalior Collector P Narhari cited the panel’s report and said the school warden and house-master might have been aware about the harassment as Adarsh had complained to the management.

There is reportedly a ban in the school on using mobile phone but despite that Adarsh had uploaded his photos on Facebook around ten days before the alleged suicide attempt.

The son of Bihar Cooperative Minister Jai Kumar Singh was found with a cloth tied around his neck on August 20 and was rushed to a private hospital for treatment.

He was later shifted to Delhi’s Apollo Hospital for treatment.
