New Delhi: One of BJP’s senior leader’s, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, and Union Minister in the Narendra Modi government has reportedly received threatening calls from the underworld.
Naqvi made a formal complaint in a letter sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs and central intellegence agencies and Delhi police have been asked to investigate.
Sources in the Ministry of home affairs confirmed that Naqvi received some calls from an unidentified caller, describing himself as ‘bhai’, who threatened that he will be killed.
Naqvi is a senior BJP leader and has been a party spokesperson, he is also one of the party’s few Muslim faces and is Minister of state for Parliamentary affairs and minority affairs.
Top officials said security for Naqvi may now be beefed up.
Initial investigations have revealed that the caller made a call on Nagvi’s mobile using a Skype number.
Naqvi has campaigned extensively for the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir elections and has made some strong statements against ISIS.
Naqvi who hails from Uttar Pradesh is a Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh .
