New Delhi: Harley Davidson is on a roll in India. Now, the fan wave of Harley has hit Gujarat Police Department. As a part of preparations for the Vibrant Gujarat Summit-2015, the Gujarat Police Department now can boast of some Harley-Davidson Street 750 and Superlow models.
The bike has touched the sweet spot of the Indian market and with customers giving them an extraordinary reception making the Street 750 a huge hit. It now accounts to almost 85% of the monthly business of Harley-Davidson in the metros like Delhi and Ahmedabad.
The Harleys will be used for escorting and piloting of VIP convoys. The photographs showcase two Harley-Davidson motorcycles, the Street 750 and the SuperLow, painted in white colour and laden with accessories like a warning light, a siren and a wireless communicator.
At present over 45 countries uses Harley-Davidson motorcycles as police vehicles. The police spec Harley comes with sirens, warning lights and a wireless communicator.
The Street 750 is the most affordable Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the Indian market today which also received the prestigious Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY) award for 2014.
The bike comes with a price tag of Rs 4.1 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the SuperLow is priced at Rs 5.71 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). While the Street 750 is powered by the company’s liquid-cooled V-Twin engine that develops 47bhp and 60Nm, and comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. The SuperLow, on the other hand, gets an air-cooled 883cc Evolution engine that puts out about 50bhp and 69Nm.
Harley-Davidson offers a range of 11 models in India from each of its six platforms – Sportster, Dyna, Softail, V-Rod, Touring and Street – in addition to a full range of parts, accessories, and general merchandise, available through authorized dealerships.
The company has 15 dealership facilities across India: New Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Indore, Pune, Goa and Jaipur.
