Girl Scouts add 3 new cookie flavours

Date:

This is the season for Girl Scout cookies. You can look forward to three new flavours: Toffee-tastic, Trios, and Rah-Rah Raisins.

Toffee-tastic is a buttery cookie with toffee bits, Trios features peanut butter, chocolate chips and whole grain oats, and Rah-Rah Raisins is an oatmeal raisin cookie with Greek yogurt-flavoured chunks.

Most notable about the new cookies is that Toffee-tastic and Trios are gluten-free. Over the last few years, more and more people have been cutting gluten out of their diet, and many companies have been coming up with gluten-free products to meet demand.

Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, and other related grains. It’s what makes dough soft, chewy, and fluffy.

Some people with Celiac disease are very allergic to gluten and get very sick when they eat it or anything that has touched something with gluten in it. Some other people, while not allergic to gluten, have cut it out of their diet because they believe it is bad for their health.

Last month, Girl Scouts of the USA announced that the cookies will be available for purchase online for the first time ever, so getting your cookie fix will be easier than ever.
