Twinkle Khanna trends on Twitter

Date:

Mumbai: Actress-turned-interior designer and now a writer, Twinkle Khanna won the Internet with her recent column in which she addresses the need to distinguish between things that need utmost attention and things that should not matter much.

Twinkle talks about the bigger problems that our nation needs to deal with instead of raging and taking action towards an event like the AIB Roast.

Her tweets under the handle @MrsFunnyBones on Twitter not only make you laugh endlessly, but also provide a really cool outlook on things everyone is talking about.

The latest talks in, was the super controversial #AIBRoast and the controversies around it. Twinkle wrote a fabulous column about it that made everyone love her even more.

She wrote about how ‘a country that won their freedom in a non-reactive manner, has now changed to a country that has decided to be offended by arbitrary things’ and asks ‘shouldn’t we save our strength to protest against things that really matter’.

Twinkle, juggling many professions, may joke on Twitter about getting short shrift from her mother but there’s plenty of admiration coming her way from several other quarters.

The response on Twitter was instant and had fans in awe of her. Much of the public applause came from the film fraternity, direct casualties of both the controversy over the Roast and the recent bleeping of the word ‘Bombay’ in a song.

Other excerpts from Twinkle Khanna’s blog:

“In the last few months, we have been offended by Obama’s chewing gum, Modi’s suit, Kiran Bedi for various reasons and, of course, by the infamous roast.

If I had to be offended by a live show I would rather be offended by Arnab who invites people on his show and then doesn’t let them speak. I saw an episode where he is asking the education minister a question and then screaming over her answers.

Now that’s just bad manners, at least in the AIB roast they called guests over, let them say their bit, people laughed and went home. But we still have to get outraged even though they had made it clear that the show is for adults only.”

Twinkle also shared the article on Twitter.

Turns out, we weren’t the only ones who’re going gaga over Twinkle’s humour. Some of the biggest names of Bollywood have tweeted in appreciation.

Here are some of the tweets:

Twinkle was overwhelmed by the response she has got for this blog.

“My TL flooded with kind words about Worthy Battle..piece.A big thank u since I can’t thank each one personally-may the phorce be with u all,” she wrote.

Her actor husband Akshay Kumar recently said in an interview, “She was once known as ‘Mrs Kumar’, but in all honesty, she rocks as ‘Mrs Funny Bones’ even more.”
