London: Traditional household locks and keys may soon become thing of past, as Apple is reportedly working on a new technology that may allow people to open their locks with iPhone.
Business analysts believe Apple is working on a potentially vast new business in which physical security — locks and keys made of steel and iron — are replaced by electronic locks opened by your iPhone.
Apple stores are already selling the August smart lock, which works with both iPhone and Google’s Android phones, which provides a secure way to control access to homes from an app on your device.
There’s no longer a need for keys and codes. Just tap on the phone of tablet can help people to select who enters and who doesn’t.
However, a leading magazine stated that, while this technology might look like just a new device and a new app, the implications are far-reaching.
Taken alongside Apple’s claimed the iPhone can replace car keys, and Google’s statement they want to concentrate on things people use twice a day (like locks), it could spell the end for the traditional five-lever mortice.
