France’s world number 28 Richard Gasquet has pulled out of the Monte Carlo Masters because of ongoing back pain, organisers said Monday.
Gasquet has been suffering from Maigne’s syndrome, a lower back pain that can radiate between the ribs and groin, since last season’s Miami tournament.
The 28-year-old sat out the entire hard-court season in 2014 with the exception of the French Open. He exacerbated the injury in his March comeback at Indian Wells.
His return to action is now scheduled for the April 20-26 Barcelona Open.
