New Delhi: If you are waiting for ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, here is good news for you all. The film’s release has been pre-poned from May 29 to May 22.
The film, starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan, has been pre-poned so that its box-office run does not get hampered due to ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ which is scheduled for June 5 release.
Produced by Eros International & Colour Yellow Productions, the film, a sequel to the 2011 hit of the same name, was completed within its schedule so the makers decided to pre-pone its theatrical run by a week.
While it was decided that Tanu Weds Manu Returns would release on May 29, the schedule was completed earlier than planned. The makers are happy with the way the film has shaped up and believe that it is ready for audiences to enjoy.
“Additionally, preponing the film’s release to a week earlier allows them to have a better run at the B/O, owing to the fact that the next big ticket release will happen in June,” a source said.
Director Aanand Rai says it’s entirely the producers’ call.
“I think Eros has a packed year in 2015. They are also the overseas distributors of Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do which opens on June 5. So they probably wanted to avoid any clash of interest.I am okay with the pre-ponement.”
