Music to muse: Shekhar to act now!

Date:

Bollywood is now experiencing jack of all trades. While actors are lending their voices to melodies, the ones who’ve already done that are now switching to roles in front of the camera. Here is one musician who is all set to turn an actor.

Shekhar Ravjiani, who is known for his music that he often composes with Vishal Dadlani, will soon be making his acting debut opposite fashionista Sonam Kapoor in Neerja.

The actor has decided to get in front of the camera and try his luck at acting.

The film also stars Shabana Azmi, playing Sonam’s mother in the film. ‘Neerja’ will highlight their mother-daughter relationship. The film also marks ace photographer Atul Kasbekar’s debut as a producer.

In the biopic, Sonam will play the role of Neerja Bhanot, the brave flight attendant of PanAm, who lost her life trying to save the lives of passengers from terrorists on board the hijacked PanAm Flight 73 on September 5, 1986.

Neerja posthumously became the youngest recipient of India’s highest civilian award for bravery, The Ashok Chakra. She was only 22 when she passed away.

Sonam is currently in Cannes, as per her role as brand ambassador of cosmetics brand  L’Oreal Paris.

Once she returns back, she will be shuffling between Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Prem Rattan Dhan Payo’ and ‘Neerja’.
