Varanasi: Narendra Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi will graced by the PM himself on Thursday, as he will be addressing a mega rally in Dereka.
The holy city will witness Modi inaugurating a trauma centre at the Banaras Hindu University.
PM Modi is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone of ring road and kick-start the Integrated Power Development Scheme.
UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is expected to receive the PM at the Lal Bahadur Shastri airport at Babatpur, from where both will take a chopper ride to the BHU campus.
It seems that a 9 crore waterproof tent has been erected at Bereka, which can accommodate around 30,000 people. This is keeping in mind that incessant rains since Wednesday night has thrown life out of gear in Varanasi, and has the potential to play spoilsport as NaMo chants soak the place.
Considering his last rally was cancelled due to heavy rain, and a waterlogged DLW Grounds, the venue, this time, extra efforts have been put in to ensure that arrangements are foolproof and the rally goes on smoothly.
Power Grid Corporation of India has been asked to erect a special waterproof pandal at the venue. Three special technicians have been called from New Delhi and a large number of labourers are working round the clock on it, said Sanjay Bhardwaj, Media In-charge of Varanasi Constituency as well as the Poorvanchal (Eastern UP) Region.
He will also lay the foundation stones for power sub-stations at Chowk and Kazzakpura.
PM Modi will also meet some dignitaries and prominent people of his constituency, along with some representatives of few NGOs at the airport’s VVIP lounge and will then fly back to New Delhi.
