Two jawans injured during major operation in Tangdhar sector of LoC

Jammu: ndian Army on July 23 initiated a counter infiltration operation near the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district after a group of heavily armed militants was spotted inside Indian Territory.

According to the reports, at least two soldiers were injured in a gunfight with infiltrating militants near the Line of Control in Tangdhar sector of Kashmir.

Army noticed the movement of around 4 heavily armed militants near Eagle post in Tanghdar sector on Wednesday afternoon.

Army challenged these militants but they opened fire leading to a fierce gun battle which was on till late night.

“Two jawans have sustained minor injuries in the on-going operation in Karnah so far. The exchange of fire with the terrorists was going on till reports last came in,” the officials said.

Army launched a counter-infiltration operation near the LoC after noticing suspicious movement on July 22 evening. “There was a brief exchange of fire last night which resumed this morning,” the officials said

The area is at an altitude of over 12000 feet and has huge boulders and bushes that give natural cover to the militants in the area and provide them hideouts. Army has cordoned off the area due to heavy rain and zero visibility.
