Playing a role of a mother onscreen at the moment when you climbing the stairs of success is a complete gamble in itself. And with stars who are still rising and trying to build their name in Indian cinemas is quite a big thing.
It actually came as a surprise when we saw the gorgeous diva Jacqueline Fernandez playing a role of a young mother in her upcoming film Brothers, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Akshay Kumar.
But it seems like it wasn’t an easy task to convince this Sri Lankan beauty for the role and the one who came as a saviour for the filmmakers was none other than her ‘Kick’ co-star Salman Khan, who is also a very close friend of the actor.
Jacqueline is believed to take advice from Salman before getting on to some decision and it seems like this time also he played a major role in convincing her to play the role as it will lift her performance, as well as her career.
According to a leading daily, Jacqueline was quoted as saying, “Both the Karans (Johar and Malhotra) came to me with the story of Brothers. I met them at the office and he told me what this movie is about and that they wanted me to play Jenny Fernandes. I was like, ‘Why would they want me in the film?’ I was a little apprehensive about taking on an intense role like this. You are playing a mother and there are too many stereotypes attached to that. So I was a little sceptical.â€
“I discussed it with Salman and he convinced me to say yes. He told me it would benefit me and that here was a chance for me to prove myself through performance and I should not worry about the glamour and styling taking it away. I thought if I could pull this off, it would be fantastic for me and my credentials as an actor. I pretty much owe it to Karan and Salman for believing that I could carry off the role,†she added.
Now, it will be interesting to see Jacqueline in a complete new avatar and as to how she deals with the role.
