New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the Red Fort in New Delhi on Saturday morning as India celebrates its 69th Independence Day. Security has been tightened across the country.

Modi: We need to make India capable, prosperous.
Modi: In-principle this govt has accepted ‘One-rank, One-pension’; we will have good news on the basis of talks are going.
Modi: I assure the servicemen and I am saying it under the Tricolour from the Red Fort- we have accepted OROP. Some talks are still on.
Modi: Why should it be mandatory for people to give interviews. I request state governments to remove the process of interviews for minor jobs to end corruption in getting jobs.
Modi: I want all bank branches in India to contribute to the start up revolution. Banks should ensure that every branch must give loan for start ups to at least one Dalit or tribal.
Modi launches ‘Start up India, Stand Up India’ plan.
Modi: The country can’t wait for 10 years for development.

Agriculture Ministry to be renamed to Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Ministry, announces Modi
Modi: A farmer in the country is as important as a soldier of the country.
Modi: Even after so many decades of Independence there are 18,500 villages in India which do not have electricity. We need to increase agricultural productivity. Save water, save energy, save fertilizers should be our motto. We have earmarked Rs 50,000 crore for irrigation scheme.
Modi: India will be successful when UP, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and other parts of North East India are strengthened. India cannot develop till the eastern part of the country develops.
Modi: India cannot develop till the eastern part of India develops.
Modi: Despite deficit rains, we have been successful in bringing down the inflation down from double digits to 3-4%.
Modi: We did not organize press conferences and talk about fighting against corruption, we acted on the ground and brought changes in the schemes to fight corruption.
Modi: Rs 6500 crore disclosed under compliance window of black money & foreign assets law. People fear the law that has now been created. Stringent provisions will not be diluted despite pressures.
Modi: At G-20 summit, I worked with US and other countries to bring black money back.
Modi: We have taken several steps to bring back black money. As soon as we came to power, we made the SC appointed SIT for black money probe which had been pending for 3 years
Modi: Not one allegation of graft against my govt. Timely auctions of coal, radio, spectrum have helped in eliminating corruption.
