PM Modi lays emphasis on organ donation in ‘Mann Ki Baat’

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on radio through his 13th edition of Mann ki Baat on Sunday.

In this edition the Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised on organ donation as an important issue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised Tamil Nadu for their leading endeavours in this regard while praising the other states for their initiatives towards the cause.

“Some girls from Kerala asked me to talk about organ donation. Organ donation is an important issue. The need for kidneys, heart and livers is high but less number of transplants happen,” he said while addressing the nation in the 13th edition of his ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

Further in the programme PM Modi greeted the nation on the festive season calling India-Africa Summit as a festival.

“This is a festive season. In this one more festive occasion is India-Africa Summit,” PM Modi said.

“India and Africa have many similarities. So many people of Indian origin have been staying in Africa,” PM added emphasising the importance of the summit.

India-Africa summit will be held from October, 26th to 29th in Delhi.

PM said how can it be possible that there is Mann Ki Baat and I don’t talk about cleanliness. Talking about cleanliness, PM Modi thanked media for their efforts towards a clean India.

“Want to thank the media for their efforts towards a clean India,” PM Modi said.

Speaking about abolishing interviews for low rank jobs PM Modi ensured that it will come into effect from January 1st, 2016.

“Had talked about menace of corruption, in seeking jobs. We’d thought of abolishing interviews for some jobs,” PM Modi.

“Government has completed whole process to do away with interviews for low rank jobs; It will come into effect from 1 Jan,2016,” PM added.

Meanwhile, PM Modi briefed the nation about Gold Monetisation Scheme, saying that gold can become an economic strength.

“Gold can become an economic strength. It can become country’s economic asset,” PM said

“Gold should not be kept as gold money; Under gold monetisation programme, it can be kept in the bank,” PM added.
