Shirsa Labs raises $250,000 from ah! Ventures

Date:

Mumbai based Shirsa Labs, an educational technology start-up has raised $250,000 in angel capital funding through ah! Ventures, a start-up focused growth catalyst.

The deal was concluded through ah! Ventures’ private equity investment platform, CLUB ah!. The network recently secured its first profitable exit from ed-tech venture Harness Handitouch within 2 years of its investment. CLUB ah! has till date invested close to Rs 60 crore in over 20 start-ups.

Founded in 2013 by Sukhada Tendulkar and Mandar Desai, the start-up aims to stimulate the intellectual and learning skills of children by using a combination of online and offline interactive methods. It has multiple games, worksheets, and videos to engage children and boost their cognitive learning.

The start-up uses the online engagement platform to entertain and educate children mainly in the age group of 6-13.
Speaking on the occasion, co-founder and CEO of Shirsa Labs said, “While kids love to play online, parents want actionable information and educators can teach better when children are motivated. We have connected these points and want Shirsa Labs to be a collaborator in this eco-system that must work together.”

Currently, the start-up has over 70000 registered students, access to over 2000 schools.

Shirsa will be the second ed-tech start-up that ah! Ventures has most recently helped raised capital for; the other is iDreamCareer.
