Kaziranga National Park to attract more tourists

Date:

The Kaziranga National Park is open for tourists after its routine closure for the monsoon season. The authorities have made elaborate arrangements to make the visit of the tourists to the world heritage site memorable.

The Kaziranga National Park is situated in Golaghat and Nagaon districts of Assam. The park, spread in an area of 430 kms, hosts two-third of the world’s great one-horned rhinoceroses. Assam’s Forest and Environment Minister Etwa Munda opened the park at Mihimukh elephant tower in the Kohora Range in the presence of foreign and domestic tourists.

“We have opened the jeep and elephant safari. Last time, we have received 1, 31,000 tourists out of which 9,000 were foreigners. We collected 2.9 crore of revenue and this time we are expecting more tourists from different parts of the world. We will hopefully provide every possible facility to the tourists,” said Kaziranga National Park Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) S.K. Sill Sarmah.

“All four ranges Kohora, Bagori, Agartoli and Burapahar are open for visitors with elephant and deep safari for tour inside the Park,” he added.

Litchee, a German tourist, said that she really enjoyed the visit to the Kaziranga National Park.

“I really enjoyed the trip today; we were riding around ten minutes to see rhinoceros and other animals. I really enjoyed and like the place,” she said.

Assam is promoting itself as a tourist destination. Assam’s Forest Minister Etwa Munda said peace is important to
attract foreign visitors.

“It is very auspicious day that we have reopened the Kaziranga and it is good to see that many tourists have come back again to see the site. Kaziranga is a beautiful place so many tourists have come here even on the first day and I even expect more tourists to come,” he said.

Kaziranga also boasts the highest density of tigers among protected areas in the world and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006. The park is home to large breeding populations of elephants, and wild water buffaloes.
