Capt. Amarinder slams Badals for calling Cong ‘anti-national’

Date:

Amritsar MP Captain Amarinder on Saturday slammed the Badals of Punjab, for calling the Congress party ‘anti-national’, and linking it to Pakistan intelligence agency ISI.

He said that Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Badal’s comments were an attempt at justifying the failure of his own Govt.

“People in Punjab know the truth that is why he came to Delhi, and held a meeting here.”

He said that the SAD was on a weak ground in Punjab, and it would not even win a single seat if the polls were to be held today. Speaking on the Sarbat Khalsa controversy, the MP said, “Sarbat Khalsa is not political. One of our MLAs who went to Sarbat Khalsa had resigned as Cong MLA. Others went in individual capacity. Earlier today, Sukbir Singh called the Congress party an ‘anti-national organisation’, accusing it of creating an alliance with terrorist organisations having links with Pakistan-based ISI.

Addressing the media, Badal said, “Everyone knows what Punjab went through in the 80s. Those fifteen years of militancy, disturbance, where thousands of Punjabis were killed, there was communal as well as full disturbance of peace in the state of Punjab.”

“Everyone knows how it started and in order to fight Akali Dal, the Congress encouraged certain elements which then went out of control and that led to full 15 years of disturbance in Punjab which even threatened the nation’s integrity. Today, Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi is trying to create the same environment in the state of Punjab,” he added.

Badal called the Congress an ‘anti-national’ party.

Earlier, a delegation of Punjab Congress leaders led by party vice-president met President Pranab Mukherjee and submitted a memorandum urging him to initiate a judicial probe into the killing of two persons in recent protests over alleged desecration of Guru Granth Sahib.

The Congress leaders rubbished the CBI probe ordered the Punjab government in the incident, and placed their demand for an inquiry to be conducted by a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court.

Responding to the statements, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Sanghvi slammed the SAD and said that this outburst was a sign of their frustration. He told a private television channel, “It is sad that the SAD is talking and behaving like this. I think they have lost it. I think they see the writing on the wall clearly. They know that there is going to be a massive, outright rejection at the hustings by the electorate of Punjab. Defeat is staring them in the face, and these are the outpourings of frustration and hypocrisy.”

“The SAD should not stoop to such sad levels that they are having rampant drug trafficking, complete misgovernance, huge corruption, reducing Punjab to Punjab Incorporated for a small family, and then making such wild, outlandish allegations,” he added.
