India bowl out South Africa for 79

Nagpur: The Indian bowlers ripped through the Proteas’ batting line up, bundling them out for just 79 runs on day two of the third cricket Test at VCA stadium, on Thursday.

The hosts have taken a crucial 136-run first innings lead as South Africa posted their lowest total against India in Test cricket.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja produced a scintillating performance at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.

Resuming at Wednesday’s score of 11-2, the South African batters were unable to face the spin trio and were dismissed in the first session of the second day itself.

Meanwhile, middle-order batsman JP Duminy was the lone survivor who stayed at the crease for a while, scoring 35 runs for the visitors.

Indian off-spinner Ashwin remained dominated over the visitors as he grabbed five wickets for his side while Jadeja bagged four wickets. Amit Mishra also chipped in with one wicket.

At lunch, India are at 7-0 in their second innings, with openers Murali Vijay (five) and Shikhar Dhawan (two) on the crease, having an overall lead of 143.

Earlier, India posted a first inning score of 215 runs after opting to bat first on a dry and dusted pitch.
