100% political vendetta from PMO: Rahul Gandhi on National Herald case

Date:

Reiterating Sonia Gandhi’s statement, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said the National Herald case is “hundred per cent political vendetta coming out of PMO” but declared that he has full faith in the judiciary.

He also rejected the charge that Congress was using Parliament to threaten judiciary saying “it is the other way round”. “One hundred per cent political vendetta. Pure political vendetta coming out of PMO. It is their way of doing politics. Pure 100 per cent vendetta,” Gandhi told reporters outside Parliament.

He said he has full faith in the judiciary. “I have full faith in judiciary. We will see at the end what comes out. Truth will come out.” Asked about Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu’s charge that Congress was using Parliament to threaten judiciary (by disruption), he said, “It is the other way round. Who is threatening judiciary. We all know.”

Congress members disrupted proceedings in both the houses of Parliament yesterday and got the Rajya Sabha adjourned till tomorrow.

Taking strong exception to allegations levelled by Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is oppressing the judiciary, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy on Wednesday asked Gandhi to “prove his claims”.

“We would ask Rahul Gandhi, if he has courage enough; if he has a standing as a leader of his political party, he should come to Parliament and give the proof of the allegations that he has made against the judiciary, the government, and the PMO,” Rudy told the media.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were on Tuesday directed to appear in person on December 19 by a Delhi court which allowed their plea seeking exemption from personal appearance for the day in the National Herald case.
