Heavily-armed Bangladeshi commandos today stormed a restaurant in Dhaka’s high-security diplomatic area where suspected Islamic State militants were holding many people hostage, including foreigners, since last night.
More than 13 hostages have been rescued and six bodies have been recovered. The gun batteles have stopped. 6 terrorist have been gunned down confirmed the Lt. Colonel. However more terrorists can be there hiding out as per the report.
Indian High commissioner to Bangladesh Harshvardhan Shringla told NewsMobile, “It’s a carnage we don’t have a word yet on the indian casualties we are in touch with the Bangladesh authorities”
Bangladeshi commandos early morning launched an operation to free at least 30 hostages, including several foreigners, from the restaurant in Dhaka’s high-security Gulshan diplomatic area that was stormed by suspected Islamic State militants, in which two policemen were killed and 30 others injured.
Gunshots and sounds of explosion started to rock the area at 7:40 AM (local time) as security forces launched an offensive to end the 11-hour-long hostage crisis at a cafe in Dhaka’s diplomatic zone Gulshan.
Armed terrorists are believed to be holding captive at least 20 people at the cafe in the diplomatic zone. The US has said it cannot yet confirm the Islamic State terror group’s claim owning responsibility for the hostage crisis in a restaurant in Dhaka’s high security diplomatic area.
According to US media reports, ISIS has claimed responsibility of the attack at Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka last night.
But according to CNN, senior US officials believe that the attack has been probably carried out by Al Qaeda in Indian Sub-continent, which was declared as a terrorist organisation by the US only a day earlier.
