Five persons arrested for kidnapping 11-year-old boy

New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI) Police has arrested a fivemembers of a gang who had kidnapped an 11-year-old boy fromNarela area of outer Delhi for ransom, police said today. Inspired by crime-based television shows, six people fromDelhi and Haryana planned the kidnapping of an 11-year-old boyfrom Narela. The 11-year-old boy was kidnapped a couple of weeks backfrom Narela market where he had gone to meet his relativeswith his mother, police said. The kidnappers called the boyÂ’s father demanding a ransomof Rs one crore but after the family expressed its inabilityto pay such a high amount, the kidnappers brought down theirdemand, they said. After the ransom was paid and the child was returnedsafely, the police began a search for the kidnappers. Thechild had no memory of his kidnappers as he was sedated. Basedon certain inputs, the police raided a number of places inHaryana and arrested five people. The mastermind of thekidnapping, Pawan, is still absconding, said Vikramjit Singh,DCP (Outer). During interrogation, it has emerged that Pawan had drawninspiration from crime shows that frequently show suchepisodes of kidnapping. Since Pawan had previous experience ofworking as a compounder with a physician, he knew which drugswould sedate the kid. The police has recovered the vehicles that were used inthe kidnapping and the injections that were administered tothe kid. PTI SLB VITRG
