Man who made hoax call about bomb in Red Fort detained

New Delhi, Aug 17 (PTI) The man who made the hoax callabout the bomb planted at the Red Fort yesterday which sentthe police and security agencies in a tizzy has been detainedby Delhi Police. The accused Hanuman Singh, 22, was detained from his hometown Alwar in Rajasthan by a police team. He lived in Delhi ineast Delhi’s Jwala Nagar area close to Shahdara and preparedfor competitive examinations, said a senior police officer. The hoax call of bomb planted at Red Fort was received bythe police control room last evening. Immediately,police and security personnel rushed to the fort and evacuatedit for a massive combing operation which went for severalhours and no explosive material was found. Although the accused prepared for competitiveexaminations he appeared to be mentally sick and was involvedin mischievous activities in the past also, said the officer. The accused was grilled by Delhi Police’s Special Celland other agencies and it was revealed that he was involved inprevious cases of prank calls. The details of such cases arebeing verified. The phone number used by him to make the hoax call wasregistered in the name of some other person. After making thecall he had run away to Alwar as he started receiving callsfrom the police.
