New Delhi, Aug 24 (PTI) A revenue official, posted in theSouth West district Deputy Commissioner’s office, was arrestedby the Anti-Corruption Branch for allegedly demanding a bribeof Rs 5 lakh from a farm house owner. "A case has been registered by the Anti-Corruption Branchagainst a Patwari, who was working in Deputy Commissioner, South West’s office, after he was caught accepting a bribeyesterday," Special Commissioner of Police, ACB, M K Meenasaid. The ACB had received a complaint from one Navin Jain, whoalleged that Patwari Sanjay Kumar Solanki had demanded a bribeof Rs 5 lakh in connection with handling a complaint againsthis farmhouse. He alleged that Solanki had been frequently visiting theirfarmhouse and threatening to get it demolished on the pretextof a complaint of misuse of agricultural land and illegalconstruction. The patwari demanded Rs 5 lakh but later reduced theamount to Rs 3.5 lakh, the complainant alleged. The complainant then called Solanki to his office at NehruPlace to give him the first installment of Rs 2 lakh, when hewas arrested by the ACB officials and a case was registered,official said.
