Hyderabad, Aug 24 (PTI) Telangana and the Malaysianstate of Penang today agreed to work closely in high-endtechnology and manufacturing, and also decided to improvecultural ties. A delegation, led by its Deputy Chief Minister ofPenang, P Ramaswamy today met Telangana Minister forIndustries, IT and NRI Affairs K T Rama Rao here and discussedissues related to mutual cooperation and economiccollaboration between the two states, an official release saidhere. Rama Rao sought Pengang’s cooperation in themanufacturing sector, as that state is leading in that field. "Manufacturing is the most important component of thePenang economy. Rao said a delegation from Telangana wouldvisit the Penang Development Corporation to study the modeladopted in creating employment opportunities," it said. The Penang Development Corporation is a self-fundingstatutory body aiming to enhance Penang’s socio-economicdevelopment to create employment opportunities. Rao said Telangana government is working towardsstrengthening the manufacturing sector and creating jobopportunities. "The government has identified 14 sectors, includinglife sciences, information technology, defence and aerospaceas the focused sectors and sought investment in them," theMinister added. Telangana’s Principal Secretary for Industries,Commerce and Energy Arvind Kumar sought cooperation of Penangin the field of PV manufacturing stating that Telangana hastaken up an ambitious programme for harnessing solar energy. He invited the PV manufacturers of Penang to invest inTelangana as there is lot of potential in the state. Ramaswamy said Penang is ready to cooperate withTelangana in the manufacturing sector and also in skilldevelopment.
