New Delhi, Aug 25 (PTI) They rose to fame in late 2012with cover songs, leading to comparisons with One Direction, but British group The Vamps says its style of music is quitedifferent from the English-Irish pop boy band. The Vamps, which consists of Bradley Simpson onvocals, lead guitarist James McVey, bass guitarist ConnorBall and drummer Tristan, said it appreciates One Direction’ssense of music but its compositions have been really differentfrom them. "It was nice when there was still a band we were fans ofand we appreciated their (One Direction) music but we arequite different in terms of style and style of music fromthem. So, we do not want to be compared," Simpson told PTIduring a visit here. The British boy band, which released its debut album "Meetthe Vamps" in April 2014, said their music has been influencedby artistes like Taylor Swift and American rock band ImagineDragons and it has been very different by far. "We quite like the idea of challenging ourselves for ouralbums. Our first album was influenced by folk music.Whereas, our second one was more of hip-hop music andinfluenced by Taylor Swift, Imagine Dragons and few otherbands like that," they said. Recently, English singer Olly Murs said it has becomeextremely tough for the UK artistes to have their song atnumber position. When asked about this, The Vamps frontman Simpson said,"The most important thing is to make music, obviously being atnumber one is nice and nice fame but that is all secondary. "We enjoy playing at shows and meeting fans so as long aswe can do it and enjoy our lives that is great." Simpson, 21, calls himself lucky to have The Vamps in hislife and says the members help each other to stay groundedfrom fame at such a young age. "We are very lucky that we help each other in a way. It isnice that you get support of three of your friends around youand we can really know each other in that sense. Also, ourgreat team… They look after us and keeps us in check andmake sure we are not going on," he said. The group has now collaborated with Indian music composerduo Vishal-Shekhar on a single "Beliya". The collaboration hasbeen initiated by Virgin EMI Records, UK and Bottomline Media. The band will play it live for the first time with the twoBollywood music directors in Mumbai today. The band is also going to perform at this year’s Radio OneTeen Awards. "It will be fun. We do not know if we would play ‘Beliya’there but we are planning to potentially play a new song inthe ceremony." PTI SSNPSH
