Itanagar, Aug 28 (PTI) Arunachal Pradesh ChiefMinister Pema Khandu has visited the Arunachal Bhawan at NaviMumbai after attending the ‘Songs and Dances of Northeast’festival in the Western metropolis. Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, MLABamang Felix, Chief Secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin, Khandu metofficers posted there yesterday and interacted with studentsand visitors staying there. He took details of problems faced by the authoritiesof the Bhawan which is frequented mostly by cancer patientsfrom the state for treatment in Mumbai and students studyingacross Maharashtra. To set the administration right, Khandu directed theOffice of the Resident Commissioner, New Delhi to take overthe charge of Arunachal Bhawan, Mumbai and appointed DeputyResident Commissioner, Delhi, K N Damo as in-charge, a CMOrelease informed here today. On Khandu’s direction, the government has opened aHead of Account specifically for the Mumbai Arunachal Bhawan. This would streamline financial transaction of theBhawan administration and equip its office with financialindependence. Funds have been placed so that essential needs such aselectricity and water bills are paid on time, he said. Khandu also assured the officials that a system isbeing put in place for long term solution to all major andminor issues confronting the functioning of the Bhawan. Taking note of difficulties faced by cancer patients,the chief minister also mooted a mechanism for to and frotransportation of patients between Arunachal Bhawan and majorhospitals in Mumbai, the release added.
