Attempt to break ATM

Erode (TN) Aug 30 (PTI) An attempt was made to break openan ATM of a nationalised bank here, police said today. The incident at the ATM attached to the Thindal branch ofIndian Overseas Bank came to light this morning when itsManager came for duty and found the cash-loaded machinetampered with. The manager immediately alerted the police who rushed tothe spot and conducted preliminary enquiries. The culprit had entered the ATM kiosk after disconnectingthe electricity and tried to break the machine, but failed,police said adding that it was functioning without a securityguard. Finger prints had been collected from the crime scene andpolice were verifying the CCTV footage to ascertain theidentity of the culprit. PTI COR ROHVS
