Capsized Bangladeshi trawler with 7 bodies found

Canning (WB), Aug 30 (PTI) A capsized Bangladeshitrawler was found with seven bodies inside it from the corearea of Sudarbans today. The trawler ‘FB Noor Alam’ had perhaps drifted intoIndian waters and capsized during a heavy storm on August 8,West Bengal United Fishermen Association chief JaikrishnaHaldar said. Bangladesh is being informed about the finding of thetrawler, Sundarban Development Minister Manuturam Pakhirasaid. While returning to the shore of South 24 Parganasdistrict today, Indian fishermen found the tip of a capsizedtrawler at Chhaimari in the core area of Sundarbans, Haldarsaid. Without realising that the trawler was from Bangladesh,the fishermen tied it to their own trawler ‘FB JaiTara’ and pulled it to Brajaballabhpur ‘chara’ underPatharpratima police station. It was then found out that the capsized trawler wasfrom Bangladesh. The seven bodies were discovered when water was beingdrained out from the trawler, he said. However, the water could not be fully drained as tidewas high and it is apprehended that more bodies could be thereinside. Haldar said the police have been informed about theBangladeshi trawler and the bodies. Several fishermen died while a large number of fishermenwere rescued by the Coast Guard following the storm of August8. PTI CORR NNASV
