Film on Tagore, Ocampo to use 35 mm Kodak rolls

Kolkata, Aug 30 (PTI) An Indo-Argentinian co-productionfilm on Tagore’s relationship with Argentinian writer VictoriaOcampo will recreate the bygone era with 35 mm Kodak rollswhich have now become obsolete. "It was important to shoot this film in 35 mm rolls andnot digitally to get that vintage effect. Half of the film isin black and white," Suraj Kumar, who is producing "Thinkingof Him" told PTI here. He said such rolls are not found in the market anymorebut have to be ordered from Kodak. For the shooting of the film in Tagore’s abode atSantiniketan, the team bought two such rolls from Argentina. "One of it is now probably lost already because theairport security in Delhi couldn’t understand what it containsand therefore they opened one of them. Upon exposure to whitelight the rolls get wasted," Kumar said. Director Pablo Caesar said they are doing every bit torecreate the past. "Thinking of Him" which stars Victor Banerjee andRaima Sen in key roles will be shot in Santiniketan, Kolkataand Argentina. "It is a big challenge to play Tagore but also a bighonour," said Banerjee. The Argentina government is taking an interest in thisprestigious project and has invested officially in the biopicwhich will be made in three languages – English, Spanish,and Bengali. The film also features Argentine actors Hector Bordoniand Eleonora Wexner. According to the filmmaker Tagore and Victoria metonly twice but she left an everlasting impression on his life. "Tagore’s collection of poetry named Purabi isdedicated to her. He used to call Victoria as Bijoya and inhis poems also he used the name Bijoya for Victoria," Caesarsaid. They met for the first time in 1924 when Tagore wastravelling to Peru from Europe but had to stay in Buenos Airesfor two months due to health issues and Victoria took care ofhim. "It seems that Victoria was the one who inspired Tagoreto start painting. Although they met twice yet the impressionthey left on each other was everlasting," he said. PTI NIK KKJCH
