INLD attacks treasury benches, stages walk out

Chandigarh, Aug 30 (PTI) Haryana’s Opposition party INLDtoday attacked the treasury benches and staged a walk out fromthe House over the alleged objectionable remarks made by a BJPMP while accusing the state government of adopting doublestandards over this issue. The INLD members also criticised the Khattar-ledgovernment over the growing problem of stray cattle in thestate on the third day of the monsoon session of the HaryanaVidhan Sabha. During the discussion on a calling Attention Notice ofINLD MLAs over the problem of stray cattle, INLD MLA ZakirHussain proposed to bring a condemnation resolution againstthe MP for his alleged objectionable remarks regarding beefwhich was not supported by treasury benches. Speaking on this matter, leader of opposition AbhayChautala sought support from treasury benches for thecondemnation resolution against MP. "I want to know from treasury benches if they condemnremarks (of BJP MP) then you should pass the resolution. Andif you oppose the same then you should hold discussion on thesame," said Chautala. However, BJP MLA Gian Chand Gupta said there cannot beany discussion on the matter pertaining to a person who is notpresent in the House. Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rambilas Sharmasaid, "no member can read any newspaper cutting except inconnection with the business of assembly," adding that theperson in question has already withdrawn his statement. Acknowledging that he knew the rules of the House,Abhay said, "it is the sentiments of people. A party (BJP)which talks maximum about cow protection should support it. Ifsomebody speaks against cow, then we should condemn it." Drawing comparison of this issue with the objectionableremarks made against Jain monk Tarun Sagar, Chautala said whenan FIR can be lodged against a person who made objectionableremark against Jain monk then why no action can be takenagainst somebody who "abused a cow". BJP MLA Subhash Barala said that the BJP MP in questionhad already expressed regret if his statement had hurtsentiments of anybody. "I talked to him (BJP MP) today. He never made statementon cow," said Barala. "I do not think you want cow to get protection. Ifsomebody abuses and you are not going to oppose," Chautalasaid and after which INLD members staged a walk out. PTI CHSAKA MRJ RGMRJ
