Mumbai, Sept 3 (PTI) Maharashtra Chief Minister DevendraFadnavis and Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan today pickedup brooms during a ‘Maha Cleanathon’ held as part of theSwachh Bharat Abhiyan. Bachchan, the campaign ambassador, and Fadnavis took partin the event, along with volunteers and students, at the stategovernment-run J J Hospital here. "Fifty cities in Maharashtra will be ‘swachh’ by October 2and 7,000 villages in the state are now open-defecation free,"Fadnavis said. On public participation in building toilets, the ChiefMinister said, "If we don’t involve people in the constructionof toilets, it doesn’t fulfil the purpose. It becomes astorage space."
