Ganja seized from inter-state check gate in Nagaland

Kohima, Sep 5 (PTI) Huge quantity of contraband ganjavalued at around Rs 55 lakh has been seized from theinter-state check gate in Kohima district of Nagaland, policesaid today. 1100 kgs of ganja packed in 158 packets and concealedin an oil tanker was seized while conducting routine checkingand frisking of vehicles by personnel manning the Khuzamainterstate check gate last night. The seized ganja is estimated around Rs 55 lakh in theblack market, police said. Police said that as the personnel on duty directed thedriver to stop for checking, he reportedly sped away fromKhuzama check gate but was intercepted after a hot pursuit atPhesama. The driver of the vehicle identified as ThokchomChakba Singh (38) who tried to flee even after beingintercepted was nabbed and remanded into police custody forfurther investigation, the police added.
