Hyundai launches upgraded i20

Date:

Hyundai India has silently introduced the much awaited automatic transmission into it’s popular premium hatchback Elite i20. Also the top trim of the car, Asta (O) gets 6 airbags now. Hyundai is yet to announce it officially but it has updated their website with the new features offering. The first generation of i20 was offered with both AT and 6 airbags but Hyundai discontinued it in the 2nd generation of the car, now both the features are introduced again to stand strong in the segment.

Elite i20 with the 1.4-litre petrol engine now gets a 4-speed automatic transmission option along with the manual one. The engine is capable of producing 98bhp of max power and 132Nm of peak torque. Hyundai has not revealed the price of the automatic version yet. The AT comes only in the mid-trim Magna which means if you want to opt for the convenience of the automatic gearbox, you will have to miss out a bunch of features of the top trim such as Automatic projector headlamps, LED DRLs, Front fog lamps, Touchscreen infotainment system, Anti Lock Braking System(ABS) and rear parking sensors.

The revised prices for the Asta (O) variants are now Rs. 7.76 lakh for petrol and Rs. 8.85 lakh for diesel (both ex showroom, Delhi).
