Man sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for raping own daughter

Vijayawada(AP), Sep 6 (PTI) A local court today sentenceda man to 10-years imprisonment for raping his minor daughterand also slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him. The convict, Shaikh Mastan Vali, was a mason andresident of Vallurupalem village near here in Krishnadistrict. He was arrested a year ago, according to a pressrelease issued by the Police Commissioner’s office. The 37-year-old has a daughter and a son, but theyalong with their mother were staying separately for the lastfew years. Last year, he approached his wife and asked her tosend their daughter to stay with him for a few days. Sheobliged, said the release. After bringing his 15-year-old daughter, a Class 10student, to his house, Vali sexually abused and also rapedfor about 15 days, the release said. The girl went to her mother and narrated the incident.Immediately, the woman filed a case against her husband withThotlavallur Police Station. Vali was arrested by police on September 2, 2015 andbooked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protectionof Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. After end of the trial, the court convicted the masonand sentenced him to 10 years in jail and also imposed on hima fine of Rs 1 lakh, of which Rs 75,000 is to be deposited inthe victim’s account in a nationalised bank, it added.
