Missing trekker yet to be traced

Dharamshala, Sep 6 (PTI) A trekker, who went missinglast week in Dhauladhar hills here, has not yet been traceddespite efforts by the district administration, officials saidtoday. Harnek Singh, an advocate, had gone for trekking in themountainous of Bundlaon on September 1, police said. His family members lost contact with him and they lodged areport with police on September 3, Sub Divisional Officer(SDM), Palampur, Ajit Bhardwaj told PTI. "On September 4, five teams of about 30 people thatincluded 2 police teams and the teams of local residentsproceeded for the search and rescue of the trekker. Two teamsstayed in the area for the night and reached back on theevening of September 5. They could not trace him," policesaid. A team of about 20 people that included the Bir Bilingbased mountaineering trained group of 3 persons and the localresidents who are well versed with the topography of the areasearched for him today as well but without any results. Harnek is a frequent trekker and had been often travellingin that area. The area where he went missing is a dense forestwith a lot of vegetation of scrubs and grasses, police said.PTI Corr AQS RGAQS
