New Delhi, Sep 9 (PTI) The Supreme Court today admittedfor hearing an appeal by Indian Forest Service officer SanjivChaturvedi against withdrawal of work allocated to him afterhe joined AIIMS on deputation in 2012. A bench comprising Justices J Chelameswar and A M Saprealso sought responses from the Centre, All India Institute ofMedical Sciences (AIIMS) and the Central Vigilance Commissionon the plea of the officer who has alleged that he was notgiven any work at the premier institution despite having anexemplary service record. Chaturvedi has filed the appeal against the June 27decision of the Delhi High Court. The High Court had upheld the decision of the Centraladministrative Tribunal (CAT) that the government has thediscretion to either allot or withdraw work from its employee. Chaturvedi, who has now joined the Uttarakhand ForestDepartment, had a running feud with the authorities during hisdeputation in AIIMS where he was serving as the chiefvigilance officer from 2012-14. He had alleged that at AIIMS, the only work he was doingwas to sign pension cheques and all other allocatedassignments were withdrawn on the orders of the institutedirector. He had challenged the work withdrawal order, saying "itis an attempt to humiliate him for his action against corruptpractices in the institute." PTI PKS SJK RKSARC
