Sex determination racket busted in Haryana, 7 held

\ Chandigarh, Oct 28 (PTI) With the arrest of seven persons,\Haryana police today claimed to have busted a gang involved in\conducting sex determination tests.\ The gang used to take women from Kurukshetra and nearby\districts to Uttar Pradesh for getting the sex determination\tests done, a police spokesman said.\ Seven persons, including three members of the gang and\two women, along with their husbands, who opted for sex\determination have been arrested, he said.\ The accused were identified as — Kewal Kishore, a\resident of Karnal, Yogesh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, their\driver Anil, the women — Suman and Mukesh, residents of\Kharak Pandwa, and their husbands Rishipal and Satish\respectively, the spokesman said.\ The police received information that some persons\were coming to Kurukshetra in a car and on a motorcycle after\getting the sex determination test done in UP, he said.\ Acting on the tip-off, police along with a team of the\Health Department arrested the accused near Ladwa.\ During the interrogation, Kishore revealed that that he\along with Yogesh used to take persons from Kurukshetra and\the nearby districts to a doctor in UP\\’s Saharanpur district\for conducting the sex determination tests, he added.\ Police recovered eight Medical Termination of Pregnancy\(MTP) kits from Kishore, two kits from Yogesh and seized the\car and the motorcycle used in the crime, the spokesman said.\ A case has been registered against the accused under\the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections Section 420 (cheating)\and 120B (criminal conspiracy) and various sections of the MTP\and the Pre-conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act\at Ladwa police station, he said.
