Railways offers Rs 4 lakh accidental insurance coverage

Date:

Railways has offered Rs four lakh accidental insurance coverage to season ticket holders and suggested all daily commuters avail the facility and avoid the tension of purchasing tickets just before every journey.

“The advise is issued for the daily commuters so that they do not face the problem of availability of change and no need to stand in the long queues before the journey,” a railway release said, adding it has offered “accidental insurance of Rs four lakh to the season ticket holders”.

For a distance of 1-20 km, a passenger would spend only Rs 100 for the monthly season ticket (MST) instead of Rs 600 if he purchases a ticket every day for a month for to and fro journeys.

Similarly, a passenger need spend only Rs 270 for the quarterly season ticket (QST) for the same distance instead of Rs 1,800 if ticket purchased is regularly for three months for the two journeys, it said.

On the other hand, a passenger can travel unlimited trips with MST/QST in local passenger trains.
