JNU girl raped in South Delhi

A 21-year-old JNU student was allegedly raped by two Afghan Nationals in the Green park area of South Delhi on Friday. The victim, a second-year student from BA Hons., had gone to the pub in the Hauz Khas area with her friend where she met Twaab Ahmad alias Saleem, who is an Afghan national.

Twaab lives in Delhi, with his Afghan friend Sulaiman Ahmadi, invited both of them to their house for a party, police said. When the victim went to Saleem’s house his three friends were already present there, while her friend was dropped off at JNU, the girl came back to Saleem’s house and they consumed alcohol,” the officer said. “When the victim woke up in the morning, she saw Sulaiman forcing himself on her. She realised that Saleem and Sulaiman had sexually assaulted her when she was unconscious” he added.

The victim narrated the incident to her friend next morning after going back to JNU hostel, they immediately took her to the police and from there she was taken to the hospital for medical examination. She thereafter lodged a FIR  under section 376 read with 34 of the IPC was lodged at the Safdarjung Enclave police station on January 12. The accused, Saleem – an event manager, and Sulaiman, have been arrested and sent to judicial custody by a court, said the officer.
