Accidental mortar blast during training injures six BSF personnel

At least six BSF personnel were injured when a mortar accidentally exploded during a training exercise at Kishangarh field firing range in Jaisalmer in Rajasthan on Tuesday.

According to reports, two critically injured soldiers were airlifted to Jodhpur for treatment while the other four soldiers were taken to Ramgarh for medical aid. The injuries were caused by the 51mm mortar round exploding in proximity to the soldiers.

Incidents of BSF personnel being injured by mortar fire during training have been on the rise. This is the second such incident to take place in Jaisalmer. Four personnel had been injured in a similar incident in Jaisalmer. BSF personnel were also injured by mortar firing in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.
